Dear all at HSSC

I hope that you are well. As you know I have just got back from Canada. I am enjoying spending time with my family and friends in this short while I am home. Also I am training in the gym. I start a gruelling journey to Portugal tonight, I have taken the cheapest way of getting there, this includes getting the coach to Plymouth from Penzance, leaving at 8pm, we stop at Plymouth for 4 hours and I arrive at Heathrow airport at 5:30 am on Wednesday morning. I fly at 8:00 am and arrive in Portugal at 11:00 am.

My first two weeks in Canada were spent training with the Canadian National Sailing Team, both on the water and in the gym. I learnt from this camp and felt my sailing improve, techniques began to fit together and my fitness increased, which since the operation has been a grey area for me.

I spent the third week in Massachusetts, USA. Sailing out of Hyannis, Cape Cod for the North American Championship. It was full of top sailors including some of the best men. This was a great experience, especially so as the first day was windy. It really pushed all our sailing, as the men were heavier. I was happy with 14th out of over 120 boats, a good feeling to travel to the Worlds with.

I have planned to spend the first week training and biking around Cascais and Lisbon. The competition starts on the 4th July and continues until the 10th.

I have been training very hard for this event, the ISAF World Sailing Games, and I am looking foreword to it, although of course I am nervous, it should be great. After the Worlds I will fly back to Canada to train for the summer, compete locally, leading up the ISAF Grade 1 Canadian Olympic Regatta, on Lake Ontario, Kingston.

I enclose my revised diary to the beginning of October. Thank you for your support. I will keep in touch. Have a great summer, let’s hope the weather stays as nice as it is today, with wind of course!
Love

Rosie xxx
