The Club that is, not your Commodore

How sailing has changed since the Club’s formation in 1989, with the amazing development in navigational techniques and boat design. No longer do we need to run up and down to the chart table to determine our landfall. Despite this the occasional horrendous collision still take place often due to giant tankers’ restricted view of smaller shipping, even given the advent of AIS, the automatic identification system.

Being your Commodore again after a 20 year gap has been a most pleasurable task due to our wonderful Committee and supportive membership. Together we have a smooth running and varied programme. Our shore events are well attended even though our sailing events are fewer these days, carpe deum. Our summer rally to hotter climes continues to attract several boats and our members with boats on the Solent meet up together whenever possible.

Joining the HSSC has been life changing for many of our members, bringing a hugely different dimension into their lives and a very cohesive sailing and social community.
We’ve definitely played our part in Jewish continuity too!

We can look back on an abundance of fun and exciting sailing both on home waters and in further flung seas, oceans and countries.

Keep sailing!
