It looked as if the July 2008 event would be no less damp and slightly inclement than the 2007 version of the same name, however, surprisingly to some, if not to the forecasters, the afternoon turned bright and intermittently sunny.
We made our way over to Gills beautiful home with higher hopes, and we were not disappointed as we prepared in earnest for the marauding hoards to arrive, (well the almost 40 members and guests anyway!)
The evening tuned out to be comfortably calm and warm, if somewhat less than sizzlingly hot, and a good time was had by all! Many tales were told, and old friendships happily renewed between new members and guests, and the more long-standing member variety! It was a very mellow buzzy evening and I would like to thank all the catering team for a first class spread, and also the helpers on the night. Of course, not forgetting a massive “Thank you” to Gill for offering her home so generously at the last minute after sadly, Stanley and Alison had to remain in Dublin. (Saffers we missed you!)
